Billy Boy, the fourth to arrive, at 08:46AM had a
problem. Whilst the mother was breaking him out of the sac during birth, she accidentally
bit off one of his ears. We contacted our vet who said to take him straight there.
Fortunately, our neighbours were here, so they were able to keep an eye on the new
puppies, and anymore that may arrive whilst we were away. Once the vet had examined him,
he suggested that we take the puppy to their other practise so that he could be sedated so
that the area could be stitched up. Billy boy finally got to have his first feed from his
mother about 2 hours after he was born. The stitches had to be removed 10 days later, and
I am pleased to say that apart from only having one ear flap, he is doing very well and is
as strong as the rest of the litter.
At 12 days old Billy boy has opened his eyes, and at 14 days old,
he weighs in at 1lb 4 1/2Oz.
By 16 days old, Billy boy has taken the lead in the weight race!!!,
and is now weighing a very healthy 1lb 10 1/4Oz.
Billy Boy is now once again the second heaviest at 2lb 1/2Oz. at 21
days old. He had his first taste of readybrek today, and loved it.
Billy Boy is doing very well at 26 days old, despite his earlier
setback in life. He is still the second heaviest at 2lb 10 1/2Oz. Billy loves a game of
rough and tumble with the rest of his family.
Billy Boy is back to being the heaviest puppy, and at 29 days old
is weighing 3lb 2 1/2Oz. He enjoys a variety of food which he really tucks into. We are
pleased that Billy Boy is doing so well.
28th June, and Billy Boy has got a new home to go to when he is 8
weeks old. He will also have company, because his new owners have also got another Cocker
Spaniel.
Billy boy is now 6 weeks old, and has kept his name as his official
kennel club name. The loss of one of his ears during his birth does not seem to affected
him in any way at all, and he is just as big, heavy, active and noisy as the rest of his
family.
